I love checklists! They help me remember everything that needs to be done because nowadays, if I don’t write it down I don’t remember it. The problem is that nothing is getting crossed off the checklist! Mentally, this is not helping me. I need to see that the exhaustion I feel at the end of the day is because a lot was accomplished.
So, I decided to look at my checklist and noticed that I need to improve on my writing skills.
My list (just a small portion):
- Grade papers
- Finish report cards
- Classwork for IRC Book Club
- SOLC Blog
- Laundry
So, as you can see, other than finishing report cards everything else on the list is not something you do and then it’s done. By the time I finish what is on my list I need to add it back on.
My list (new and improved):
- Grade Exit Ticket 1
- Grade Exit Ticket 3
- Grade Informational Essays
- Input math grades
- Input reading grades
- Input writing grades
- Input science grades
- Input social studies grades
- IRC Book Club work for Week 5
- IRC Book Club for Week 6
- IRC Book Club for Week 7
The only problem is that this list is L O N G!!!
So now I think I am going to make a detailed list for the week and each week just keep adding everything that didn’t get done the week before to the new list . . .
Checklists are great if you can cross things off of them. It can be difficult if there are too many things because it just causes stress. Maybe do a long term checklist and short term checklist so things can be crossed off quickly to feel that accomplishment

I have plenty of checklists . . . long term for the house and for school; short term for home, school, kids, and appointments that need to be made. I’m a checklist master, unfortunately!

I’m also a lover of checklists! Sometimes I put things on my list just so I can cross them off because it makes me feel successful! A teacher’s checklist is never-ending, always changing, just gotta add one more thing! Happy slicing!

I have done that so many times! “Wake up – check, get dressed – check, check emails – check” LOL! Trying to trick the brain any which way I can!

That checklist is ridiculous!! One check at a time though. You always some how get it all done…maybe not at the exact moment it is due, but you always pull it off. You will feel so good when this list is all checked off! Good luck!

Due dates/deadlines are really just recommendations. LOL

Yes, I find it much more satisfying to make my list super specific so then I can cross it off and it’s a real cross off. Like you mentioned, not just “grading papers” but grading specific papers.
I also totally put things on my list so I can check them off. I had a Walmart pickup today that I didn’t have on my to do list, but as I was on my way there, I added it, so I could cross it off!!
And yes, I cannot remember a darn thing these days without putting it on my list. I just started using a task list app on my phone that goes along with Google calendar and it’s been a game changer!
Happy to see you blogging again this year and looking forward to reading your posts!

You always amaze me! You are busier than any one I know and you never look stressed. I am also a list person. I used to make fun of my mom fore her lists. Now mine are all over! I have lists in my bedroom, in the kitchen, in the car, at work. I don’t know how I would remember to do anything without them!

It’s probably because “stress out” isn’t on my checklist so I forget to stress LOL!
